On Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 October 2014 hundreds of people – men, women, children; local residents and visitors – rolled up their sleeves and took part in the first ever South Pennines Making and Doing (MAD) Festival.
Events took place in Littleborough, Todmorden, Hebden Bridge, Haworth, Holmfirth, Slaithwaite, Marsden, Uppermill, Diggle and Cullingworth. Artists talked about and demonstrated painting, weaving, pottery, millinery, printing, felting, spinning, jewellery-making, origami, wood-turning, glass-fusing, rag-rugging, embroidery, leatherwork, upholstery, crochet, model-making, willow-weaving and photography. And food producers were also on hand with opportunities to taste and make bread, cheese and chocolate.
We have been overwhelmed by the postive feedback from everyone who took part and are enjoying working our way through hundreds of photographs. You can see some of them below, or sit back and enjoy our slideshow:
Thank you to everyone who took part and celebrated the wealth of creative talent we have here in the South Pennines. Come back and craft again soon.
